G'day,
Thank you so much for all the support so many of you gave me for last year's swim. I could only manage a Kilometre because it was after the change of season; I could not swim more because of the cold (in Cairns!!!) This year is earlier and so my goal is to swim at least two kilometres.
The funds raised have been used to assist with the exercise program which has been very successful and to assist with the plethora of other services now available through MS Qld in North Queensland. We are investigating ways those services can be extended as well. We really are in the business of making life better for people with MS in North Queensland. Much of what now exists did not even enter the imagination of those of us living with MS in the region 18 months ago. And we will make further improvements as we can; with your help.

I am taking part in the Cairns MS Swimathon 2012 in order to raise much-needed funds for Queensladers living with multiple sclerosis (MS). MS is the most common disease of the central nervous system and affects more than 21,000 Australians.
Did you know?
- Today five more Australians will be told they have multiple sclerosis
- The average age of diagnosis of MS is just 30 years
- MS affects three times as many women as men
MS Australia – QLD aims to minimize the impact of multiple sclerosis on all individuals affect by the disease, as well as their families, carers and the community by offering a wide range of services, equipment and support. MS Australia – QLD’s goal is to assist everyone affected by MS to live life to their fullest potential and secure the care and support they need, until we ultimately find a cure.
