To all my dear sponsors,

Thanks again for helping people with MS in Queensland and sponsoring me in the 2011 Brissie to Bay ride last Sunday.

I thought I'd take this opportunity to thank you all again for your help and to let you know how it went.

It was again a lovely morning for the 20th B to B.   At Musgrave Park at "o' dark thirty" were the DGW group team with many other happy teams.  Sending us off was a bright and cheery Dan Sweetman..thanks Dan ( I wonder how many other riders you sponsored?).   The ride through the crisp Brissie morning was most enjoyable down to a placid Bay.   The return went well also although the three 'bonus' hills at the end were an additional challenge!   A most enjoyable brunch followed with the DGW group team, Sheri and our girls who volunteered and my other brother, Tom and his great boys so we all enjoyed the day a lot!

It was a magnificently organised event and it was a real privelege to participate.

Thanks again for your support for this great event..for us it is one of the high points of the year and it is great knowing we can do a little to help with all your great support.

Thanks again and hopefully see you again in 2012!

 23 June 2011

The cool but fine wintry weather continues in Brisbane as we prepare for the ride on Sunday!

I have been overwhelmed with my sponsorship response!   Thank you all so much to all my very generous sponsors and especially to the anonymous ones who I haven't been able to thank personally.   You know who you are so thank you very much.

I have very pleased during this week to see that the government has added some drugs to the PBS scheme which will make the financial burden of coping with diseases like MS easier.   Without this assistance some drugs can cost upwards of $1,500 per week!   Add to this the cost of home or institutional care and one can see the need for extra assistance.

In my Mum's case, over 30 years ago most of the drugs to alleviate/postpone MS symptoms had not been invented, but at least she had a husband and family that could care for her at home all her life.   We were very lucky.

Our luck continues as we enjoy a great life in a great country with many good friends and the chance to help each other.

Thanks again everyone.

20 June 2011

Now only six sleeps until the big day!  I was out training on my bike today in the beautiful Brissie winter sunshine and am so grateful to able to do this!   I received a nice EMAIL from MS Queensland today with a message from a young MS sufferer named Gary.

I found his message so inspirational.  Despite having symptoms since 1994, he was not diagnosed with MS until 2000.   Since then he has gained a doctorate to teach Research Ethics and has started a web design and email company and has designed online games in his spare time!   He has a lovely wife and son.  His story reminds me of the story last year about people like Gary who face adversity..the challenge brings out the best of them and stimulates them to excel!

I feel greatly privileged to be able to help people like Gary and I thank all my very generous supporters who have helped me help Gary and the other MS Queensland.  Thanks to all of you.

Last updated: May 17thWelcome to the 2011 Brissie to Bay!

Hi everyone and welcome to my fundraising efforts for 2011!

Last year was terrific with great generosity shown by everyone and I hope that this year will be successful also!

We have had our problems here in Queensland this year with cyclones and floods but life with MS continues for many, year in and year out.   I like to give to special causes but also to those continuing deserving ones.

The ride last year, if you recall, was great!   The DGW group team had a really enjoyable time on a clear crisp morning and the ride to the Bay and back was great.

I have my day off organised for the 26th June and all we need now is sponsors and hopefully a clear Brisbane morning!  We have been working on our cycling and look forward to the event very much.

 Thanks for considering sponsoring me!

 Cheers,

 Chris

Last updated: April 15thHelp me support people with MS

I am taking part in the 2011 Enerflex MS Brissie to the Bay bike ride in order to raise much-needed funds for people living with multiple sclerosis (MS). MS is the most common disease of the central nervous system and affects more than 20,000 Australians.

Did you know?

  • Today five more Australians will be told they have multiple sclerosis

  • The average age of diagnosis of MS is just 30 years

  • MS affects three times as many women as men

MS Australia – QLD aims to minimize the impact of multiple sclerosis on all individuals affect by the disease, as well as their families, carers and the community by offering a wide range of services, equipment and support. MS Australia – QLD’s goal is to assist everyone affected by MS to live life to their fullest potential and secure the care and support they need, until we ultimately find a cure.

Please DONATE by clicking on the button to the right and help MS Australia – QLD support all people affected by multiple sclerosis.
